Adolescente inicia campaña para que los jóvenes carguen tampones y toallas sanitarias

Hace unas semanas, la iniciativa del quinceañero José García se volvió viral.

El adolescente compartió en Instagram una fotografía posando con dos toallas sanitarias en la mano. En el pie de foto, hizo un llamado a los hombres a cargar tampones y toallas higiénicas "como señal de respeto a las mujeres".

"Las mujeres no siempre llevan consigo tampones o toallas sanitarias, y a veces les llega el periodo sin esperarlo, creándoles un problema", escribió el joven en su cuenta.

"Debemos apoyarlas, después de todo nosotros no tenemos que pasar por todo lo que ellas viven con la menstruación".

We should support them with this, after all, we don't have to go trough all they they do because of menstruation, so it's just logical that we help them. You should already know to give them your sweater and not question when they wrap it around their waist. So let's step it up a notch and help them out. Al final de la descripción de la imagen, el joven incluyó el hashtag #RealMenSupportWomen (Los hombres de verdad apoyan a las mujeres). La foto se hizo viral rápidamente, llegando a obtener casi 30.000 'likes'.

La edición en inglés de The Huffington Post dice que García contó al medio -vía correo electrónico- que no esperaba que su foto lograse el impacto que tuvo.

En una entrevista con el medio Daily Dot, el joven de 15 años y autodenominado feminista, aseguró que la idea surgió luego de percatarse de que sus compañeras de clase pelean con el estigma creado alrededor de la menstruación.

“Pedir un tampón no debería ser un tabú tan grande”, dijo al medio.
