OMS lanza himno contra la pandemia de COVID-19 y pide a personas de todo el mundo que se graben cantándolo

Con el clásico de la música disco de los 70 "We Are Family", l a Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) inició hoy, lunes, una campaña en la que pide a personas de todo el mundo que se graben cantando la canción, con el fin de convertirlo en una suerte de himno en la lucha contra la pandemia de COVID-19.
El director general de la OMS, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, anunció esta iniciativa junto a Kim Sledge, quien junto a sus hermanas Debbie, Joni y Kathy llevó esa canción al primer lugar de las listas a finales de los setenta y principios de los ochenta.
"Es la canción perfecta para que nos unamos como una familia", señaló Sledge por teleconferencia, tras subrayar que el mundo ahora necesita más que nunca "unidad y solidaridad ante un problema global".
Las aportaciones globales a la nueva versión de "We Are Family", en la que se espera que haya diversas celebridades, se utilizarán para grabar una nueva versión del clásico que se estrenará en redes sociales el próximo 9 de noviembre.
Ese día coincide con la inauguración de la asamblea anual de la OMS, consagrada a la lucha contra la COVID-19, donde la canción servirá para abrir las sesiones de debate.
Parte de los beneficios de esta iniciativa musical será donada a la OMS con el fin de contribuir a la lucha contra la pandemia, subrayó Tedros.
En la campaña participa también la compañía británica The World We Want, cuya fundadora, Natasha Mudhar, destacó en la presentación que la canción es "uno de los himnos más reconocibles del mundo, que inspira al instante un mensaje de unidad y solidaridad".
